Participation in research projects provides undegraduate students with life-changing experiences that help them develop careers. Undergraduate researchers have been vital to the success of the Periodical Cicada Project and have been included on many of the publications resulting from the project.

Your donations support undergraduate research fellowships in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, home to the faculty behind the Periodical Cicada Project.
To be eligible for the Fellowship(s), candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be an incoming or continuing undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Demonstrate financial need and academic achievement
- Be pursuing a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
- Be accepted as a participant in a University-approved experiential undergraduate research opportunity.
From those candidates that meet the criteria cited above, while each candidate will receive individual consideration, priority consideration will be given to students who:
- Have overcome obstacles such as socioeconomic or educational disadvantage; or
- Are members of groups that are underrepresented at the University; or
- Have experience living or working in diverse environments.
