The map above shows confirmed presence (cicada symbols) periodical cicada records collected by project collaborators during the current periodical cicada emergence. Small symbols indicate scattered individuals; large symbols indicate choruses. Negative (absence) records are indicated by a black “X”. Verified historical records of Brood IX are indicated by a red “H”, and verified records of select neighboring broods are represented by red circles with the brood number inside.
